Tony Finau was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on 14 September 1989. Tony was the seventh child of his parents, Kelepi Finau (his father) and Ravena Finau (his mother). His father was an immigrant to Tonga. He is married to Alayna Finnau, and they have four kids together.

Tony and his older brother Gripper were avid golfers and began playing while they were young. Despite the financial difficulties they faced at the time, their parents were supportive. Finau is a cousin of Jabari Parker who plays for Sacramental Kings in the NBA.

Molonai Hola (a Salt City Lake businessman) filed a $16 Million lawsuit against Tony Finau on September 2020. The action included Tony Finau, his brother Gipper and his manager Chris Armstrong. Wasserman Media Group was also named.

According to him, their first meeting took place in 2006 and Hola was initially financially supportive.

According to the lawsuit Hola paid Finau’s expenses related to golf.

Hola had spent nearly $600,000. on Finau’s golf bills. Their agreement required Hola to pay 20% (20%) of Tony and Gipper’s earnings during their careers.

Finau was contacted later by Finau about the deal he had first expected to sign with Wasserman Media Group. The Finau family stopped returning calls eventually.
