Pushpika De Silva posted a long post to Instagram on April 6th. She wrote, “My dear, dear Sri Lankans, respectable, intelligent people all over the globe, I know you are looking forward for my response to this unplanned event.” There’s so much I could say, but I’ll only address the most important points.

First, I want to thank the jury for choosing me to be the Wedding Beauty Crown 2020 winner. Secondly, I feel that I have been treated unfairly and my crown taken away in front everyone for the first time ever in the history Miss World. This was not the case in Sri Lanka. This is an incident that I have experienced, for me and for myself.

The pain from the injury to my skull that the world’s bridal beauty inflicted on me when she took my crown from my head was more painful than the pain I felt when my crown was taken away. It hurt Ammi,” I cannot bear to hear my little boy say. For me, as a single mother, this is an historic moment that raises the voices all women around the globe, regardless of race, religion or caste. This love for you all is a tremendous strength to me.

However, I am not a divorcée woman. As of the writing of this article, I can responsibly declare that I am not a divorcée woman. If they are divorcing me, I challenge them for my divorce papers. I am openly a mother to my child. There are personal reasons I want to stay that way. Separation is not the only thing. Divorce is an entirely different matter. I am not yet divorced. They would have taken me out if I hadn’t qualified for the tournament from the beginning. They didn’t fall asleep until I got to the end of each race.

I was the 2011 Sri Lankan beauty queen. Ten years later, last night I was crowned the Sri Lankan beauty queen of 2011. I was also crowned the Sri Lankan wedding beauty queen by a panel of judges.

A real queen isn’t a woman who steals another woman’s crown but a woman who secretly sets it! !.”

In a later post, she wrote, “Dear Sri Lankans, my friends all around the world, First of all, the National Director for this pageant. Hon. First, let me express my deepest gratitude to Rishini and all those who have supported us in any way, national or international.

I don’t hate anyone, and I can forgive those who do. Hatred is not a way to win. I used Sinhala, my mother tongue, throughout the tournament. When absolutely necessary, I used English. It is not prohibited for a bride to use her mother tongue in this contest. It is my nation’s identity and pride. Those at the top of this competition made an error. In the midst so many problems, I won.

Today’s press conference was a discussion about women, divorced mothers, single mothers and children. All that aside, there are a lot of discussions now about a future policy journey, which is one issue. So I need to speak about it.

At the moment, what people are expecting from me is that I play the role as a wedding beauty and not a political figure. Apart from all other things, I am pledging my full support for the forthcoming Bridal beauty pageant representing Sri Lanka. Thank you ..!.”

Mrs. World Inc issued a press release apologizing for the actions of Mrs. Caroline Jurie (Mrs. World 2020), at the crowning. Her actions are against the code of conduct for Mrs. Sri Lanka and the regulations she must follow during her reign strong>
