She is from a racing family. Her grandfather was a trainer and her dad, Jimmy Frost, was the jockey who rode the winner in the 1989 Grand National. Hadden, her brother, won many races, including the Pertemps Final at Cheltenham Festival on Buenavista in 2010.

Career

Bryony Frost was an amateur jockey who rode Pacha Du Polder and won the Foxhunter Chase at the 2017 Cheltenham Festival. Later that year, she became a professional jockey.

In December 2017, Frost rode Black Corton to win her first Grade One race at the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase on Boxing day and became the second British female to win a top-class race over obstacles.

She rode Present Man in 2017 and 2018 to win the Badger Beers Silver Trophy, Wincanton. Paul Nicholls supported her. In January 2018, she rode Frodon, winning the Crest Nicholson Handicap Chase Grade 3. She rode Milansbar from fifth to fifth in Grand National three months later. In November, she became the fifth woman to win 75 under rules and the second woman to complete 75 wins as a conditional jockey.

The same year, she won the Grade 2 race at Aintree on Frodon. In December, she won the Grade 3 Caspian Caviar Gold Cup at Cheltenham Racecourse riding Frodon.

Bryony Frost was one of eight nominees in 2019 in the BT Sport’s Action Woman Of The Year Awards and one of six nominees in the Sunday Times Sportswoman of The Year Awards. She won the Cotswold Chase Grade 2 National Hunt steeplechase riding Frodon at Cheltenham Racecourse in January 2019.

Frost was the first woman to win a Grade One race with obstacles at Cheltenham Festival 2019, riding Frodon in Ryanair Chase. She won the British conditional jockeys title for the 2018–19 season the following month.

In January 2020, Frost won the Grade 2 National Hunt steeplechase of the Unibet Silviniaco Conti Chase at Kempton On Frodon. Frost rode Frodon home to victory in King George VI Chase at Kempton Park. She became the first woman jockey ever to win the race. Her win gave Frodon’s trainer, Paul Nicholls, a twelfth win in the race. It was her 175th career victory, making her the most successful female National Hunt jump jockey.
